Talking fashion: Marketing students pitch their ideas to Amschela

Author: Dr Samantha Ford, Lecturer in Marketing, University of Bristol Business School

The top marketing communications students were invited to pitch to Amschela, a Bristol-based sustainable fashion brand, with a chance to win a summer internship and develop their marketing skills.

Amschela’s CEO, Keri Andriana, presented their business need to launch their signature bag (September 2025) to students on the Marketing Communications unit at the University of Bristol. As part of their assessment, students created a marketing communications plan to address this need. The top-awarded students were invited to a pitch event to develop and discuss their ideas with an Amschela panel.

On 29th April 2025, Mia Burke, Daisy Guilor, Ben Hunt, Mariia Ivanova, and Hailey Wu successfully pitched to an Amschela panel consisting of Keri Andriana (CEO), Ali Kazmi (Ethical Equity Entrepreneur), and Alex Rogers (Education Fashion Marketer).

Daisy won the two-week paid internship for their pitch with an inspiring “a legacy worth leaving” tagline that resonated with the brand’s story and purpose whilst introducing a fresh idea. Congratulations Daisy! All students were presented with a certificate and an opportunity to volunteer at a future Amschela event. So no one went away empty handed.

Winner, Daisy Guilor, said,

“Working with Keri and colleagues at Amschela was such a meaningful experience. It was a rare opportunity to liaise with a real life brand in such a high-profile industry. Thank you for the opportunity to pitch, this is incredible preparation for a future in the business world.”

Dr Samantha Ford, Unit Director of Marketing Communications and event organiser, reflected, “It has been a pleasure celebrating the achievements of these students and providing a skills- and career-developing opportunity for students to pitch to a local, sustainable business to address a real business need. It is so important to have this kind of experience embedded in the curriculum of the marcoms unit.”

A massive thanks goes to Amschela for providing invaluable industry feedback to the students, and to the University of Bristol for funding the catered networking session that followed the pitches and awards ceremony.
